Soc Trang (VNA) – Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on January 19 attended a programme to support disadvantaged labourers working at An Nghiep industrial park in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival. 


Entitled "Tet sum vay – Xuan binh an”, the programme was part of activities to take care of workers in the locality, helping them enjoy a warm and happy Tet despite impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.   

According to Chairman of the provincial Trade Union Nguyen Thanh Son, thanks to the support and donations of businesses and donors in and outside the locality, it has more resources to support trade union members and workers with difficult circumstances.

At the event, the provincial Trade Union presented 7,789 gift packages worth 2.4 billion VND (105,657 USD) in total to workers with serious diseases and those facing difficulties due to the pandemic; and provided 860 million VND for constructing and repairing 20 houses for poor labourers.

The provincial Trade Union and its chapters at all levels have coordinated with the local authorities and employers to present gifts totaled 16.1 billion VND to
50,589 trade union members and employees during the Tet holiday.

On the same day morning, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and presented gifts to the provincial Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association, and dignitaries, monks and nuns at Sam Rong and Mahatup Pagodas in Soc Trang city./.
