The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang is striving to help another 8,500 local households have access to electricity this year. This will make up to 98 percent of the locality’s total households electrified.
According to Director of the Soc Trang Power Company Huynh Minh Hai, since the beginning of this year, the company has provided electricity to more 3,500 households, including 500 Khmer ones.
In recent years, the company has sped up the development of the electricity grid for the rural and ethnic people areas.
It invested more than 305 billion VND (14.3 million USD) in the first phase of a project, bringing electricity to more than 20,000 households. The ongoing second phase is expected to benefit about 25,000 others.
The company is also working on two lines and three transformers in order to meet locals’ increasing demand for electricity.-VNA
