Instead of drying farm produce on canvas or house roofs, some mushrooms producers in Da Nang city have used solar dryers to preserve products. This method not only ensures food safety and hygiene, but also helps farmers save time and effort.

Earlier, to get a kilo of dried mushrooms, members of this cooperative had to climb to the house roof at least twice a day to air mushrooms. If the weather is good, it takes them up to four days to get qualified products.

After mushroom producers use solar dryers, they no longer have to spend much time and labour on the drying process.

Without installation fees, especially without any operating costs, the devices can dry all types of farm produce, reduce post-harvest losses and increase farmers' incomes. These devices are expected to replace the traditional way of drying agricultural products on a wider scale.-VNA
