Son La (VNA) – Police in Song Ma district of the northern border province of Son La on June 22 caught two suspects who were smuggling a large amount of drugs.

The two suspects, identified as Lau A Chu, also known as Lau A Mua, 37 and Giang A Mai, 21, reside in Huoi Mot commune of Song Mai district. They admitted to have transported the drugs from Co Ma B village of Huoi Mot commune.

The authorities seized 36 bricks of heroin, two mobile phones, three motorbikes and other related exhibits.

When searching their houses, police also discovered a squeezer to make heroin bricks and a small pack of drugs, among others. It is the largest drug smuggling case broken by police in Song Ma district.

The case is being further investigated by authorised agencies.

On June 12, a man carrying 20 bricks of heroin was arrested in Chieng Khuong village, Chieng Khuong commune of Song Ma district.

The arrested is Ly La or No La, born in 1992, and resides in Long Ku village, Vieng Say district, Houaphan province of Laos. Ly La said he was hired by a strange man to transport the drug from Laos to Vietnam.

On June 11, the Son La police and relevant authorities arrested Mua Thi Keo, born in 1996, for illegal trade of drugs, seizing 17,000 synthetic drugs and related evidence. Keo resides in Vieng Say district, Houaphan province of Laos.-VNA
