State President Nguyen Minh Triet attended the inauguration of Southeast Asia’s two largest packaging factories in the central province of Nghe An on June 21.

One factory has an annual capacity of 450 million aluminum cans and 1 billion can covers while the other is capable of producing 40 million carton boxes a year, for the Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigon Beverage Corporation (SABECO).

The two factories were commissioned after two years’ construction and are expected to provide jobs for 200 workers.

The SABECO Song Lam Packaging Joint-stock Company said the two new factories are expected to earn at least 700 billion VND in annual revenues and help reduce production costs in the central region for the SABECO holding company.

State President Triet highly appreciated the inauguration of the two factories as fruitful cooperation between the southern economic hub and the poor central province, which will enable central Nghe An to advance forwards in industrialisation and modernisation.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed SABECO member companies and its partners donate 150 million VND and 10,000 USD to the Fund for Agent Orange Victims in Nghe An province./.
