Domestic and foreign visitors had a chance to enjoy the wide range of fresh fruit available in the southern region at the Southern Fruit Festival 2011, opened in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1.

The highlight of the three month-long event was a floating market with 70 boats that sold 45 different kinds of fruits at prices 20-40 percent lower than market prices.

Additionally, the event featured a collection of over 300 varieties of rare and exotic fruit trees and a fruit artwork contest, with the participation of more than 100 artists across the country.

Several cultural activities including a safe and delicious fruit contest, fruit cuisine, a fruit parade as well as traditional music performances were also held./.
