The Spanish government will provide 500,000 EUR for a project to help locals in the northern provinces of Thai Nguyen and Quang Ninh better adapt to climate change during the 2011-2014 period.

According to the International Cooperation Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the project will be financed through the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (AECID).

With a total capital of 650,000 EUR, the project aims to ensure sustainable environmental management and livelihoods, contributing to implementing MARD’s action plan on coping with climate change.

The main activities of the project include determining the impacts of climate change, increasing management of natural resources, encouraging the participation of women, children and the poor, as well as building an action plan that is compatible with the socio-economic development strategy of the locality./.
