Lovingly crowned “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, Sri Lanka is famous for its beautiful nature, well preserved flora and fauna and many world cultural heritages associated with their eminent Buddhist lifestyles.

Vietnam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on July 21, 1970, making Sri Lanka one of the first countries for Vietnam to set up a foreign representative agency.

This is also the country where President Ho Chi Minh briefly stopped on the journey to save our nation and also where he returned to pay an official visit as President afterwards.

In recent years, the two countries have strengthened cooperation and connection in political relations, economic development, science and technology. As of June 2019, Sri Lanka had 17 valid direct investment projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of nearly $30 million.

The country also expressed their wish for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the petroleum, telecommunications, machine building, fisheries./.
