The Sri Lankan press on Oct. 12 gave wide coverage on Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang’s State-level visit to the country from Oct. 13-15.
The Sinhalaya News Agency and major newspapers such as Colombo Times, New.lk and LBO.lk all ran articles on the visit, stressing that this is the first trip to Sri Lanka by a Vietnamese State President, since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1970.
The newspapers reported that the visit would mark a milestone in bilateral relations and pave the way for the two countries to promote economic cooperation in the time to come.
According to the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry, during the visit, the two sides are expected to sign a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding on cooperation in politics, national defence, investment, finance, education, training and mechanical engineering./.
