Starbucks Corporation, the world’s largest coffeehouse company, has announced that it will open the first coffee shop in Vietnam next month in a bid to expand its presence across Asia.
The presence of the Seattle-based Starbucks will also enrich the traditional coffee culture in the host country which is home to popular coffee producers and retail outlets, and described as one of the most dynamic and attractive markets of the drink in the world.
In addition, the corporation is also considering the expansion of store chains in the capital city of Hanoi and other big cities in Vietnam , the world's second largest coffee producer after Brazil .
The business shift to Asia is to offset its shrinkage in total revenue due to market stagnancy in the US , analysts said.
The company is expected to operate an additional 3,300 to 4,000 retail stores across Asia in 2013.-VNA
