The State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) has set a target to establish comprehensive and effective relations with other institutions in all fields by 2020 to improve their performance.
The target was made public at a workshop in Hanoi September 28, under a co-sponsorship of the UK ’s National Audit Office (UK NAO), as part of the State Audit Development Strategy for 2020.
The strategy calls for finalising regulations on cooperation between the SAV and National Assembly committees and building a SAV report system in connection with the NA committees so that auditing results will be fully tapped, effectively serve the NA operation and provide consultations for the NA and its agencies.
To meet that end, the SAV was urged to take steps to expand relations with ministries and central agencies in improving the quality of auditing reports and increasing areas subject to auditing.
So far the SAV operation has merely covered over half of the number of local administrations, ministries and central agencies.
Experts at the workshop also called on auditors to make deep analysis on the nature of the phenomena and express obvious attitude towards to the question under auditing.
Also high on the workshop agenda was the work of communication and campaigning.
Bill Burnett, former Head of UK NAO’s International Relations Department, called for a legal foundation and solid rules on measures of communication and information to promote the State audit image./.
