Hanoi (VNA) – The committee for management of state capital atenterprises must join hands with relevant agencies to chalk out concretemeasures to prevent corruption, losses and waste, said Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc.

The Government leader made the call at a ceremony on February 12 to hand out a decisionto appoint Nguyen Hoang Anh, former Secretary of Cao Bang province PartyCommittee, to the post of chairman of the special committee to manage Statecapital at enterprises.

He laid stress on the committee’s two key long term tasks, which are bolsteringequitisation and divestment of state capital and improving capacity andefficiency of state-owned enterprises, especially large corporations.

The privatisation process must follow the principles of publicity andtransparency as well as bringing the greatest benefit to the state, PrimeMinister Phuc said, noting that due attention must be given to the fightagainst vested interests and corruption in every phase of the equitisationprocess.

The Prime Minister also required the committee to exercise its power inmonitoring and inspecting the operation of enterprises under its management.

Anh, for his part, promised to do his utmost to fulfill the mission entrustedby the Party and Government. He also presented some specific measures whichwill be carried out in 2018 and the following years to tackle corruption, aheadache issue in the country for years.

Earlier, on February 8, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a decision toappoint Anh as the head of the state capital management body.

The Governmentissued Resolution 09/NQ-CP in early February to set up the special committee asan agency under the Government that acts as the ownership representative ofState capital at wholly State-owned enterprises and at joint stock andliability companies with two or more members.

The committee has alegal status, seal with the national emblem and an account opened at the StateTreasury.

Nguyen Hoang Anhholds a master’s degree in world economy and international economic relationsand a bachelor’s degree in political theory. He held the post of Secretary ofCao Bang province Party Committee from March 2015 to December 2017 before assumingthe new role in the State capital management committee.-VNA

Fitch Ratings upgrades Vietnam’s senior secured long-term debt rating to BBB-

The rating for Vietnam’s secured long-term debt was raised to BBB-, equivalent to investment grade, one notch higher than the country’s long-term foreign-currency rating on unsecured debt, which remains at BB+.
