Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with 45 outstanding representativesof the Business Association of Vietnamese Veterans (BAV) in Hanoi on October 14, on the occasionof the Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13).

TheState leader spoke highly of the BAV and its members’ achievements inproduction and business activities, along with their humanitarian deeds andsocial responsibility as seen in their assistance for former comrades,scholarships for children of veterans, financial support for those performingduties at sea and on islands, donation of trillions of VND to the National Fundfor Vietnamese Children, and considerable contributions to the fight againstCOVID-19.

He askedthe BAV to enhance coordination with ministries, sectors, and localities toadvise the Veterans Association of Vietnam about creative and effectivemeasures for caring for and protecting legitimate interests of members.

TheBAV should bring into play the role of war veterans in the country’s new periodand give recommendations about national development and safeguarding to the Party andState. Apart from improving business performance, it also needs to step upcharitable activities, particularly supporting victims of Agent Orange, poorveterans, and those in disadvantaged areas, according to President Phuc./.
