State leader vows to enhance relations with India

Vietnam will join efforts with India to nurture and uphold the present friendship and promote economic cooperation on a par with the strategic partnership between the two nations, State President Nguyen Minh Triet has said.
Vietnam will join efforts with India to nurture and uphold the present friendship and promote economic cooperation on a par with the strategic partnership between the two nations, State President Nguyen Minh Triet has said.

President Triet made the statement while hosting a reception in the capital city of Hanoi on June 2 for the outgoing Indian Ambassador to Vietnam , Lal Thala Muana .

The State leader highlighted the time-honoured friendship between the two countries, stressing that Vietnam received valuable support from the Indian people during its resistance wars for national liberation.

He also thanked the ambassador for his contributions to the development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and India .

Muana spoke highly of socio-economic achievements Vietnam has reaped in recent years, and said that India wants to learn from its experience in hunger elimination and poverty reduction.

The diplomat said economic, investment and trade relations are vital factors in the bilateral strategic partnership. India regards Vietnam as an important partner in connecting the ASEAN economies with his country, he added./.
