State President Truong Tan Sang on Sept. 19 received outgoing Chief Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Vietnam Benedict Bingham.
President Sang was full of praise for Benedict Bingham’s efforts as well as the close cooperation between IMF and Vietnamese concerned agencies over the past time.
He stressed that the agencies have effectively managed the macro-economy thanks to active support from IMF, lifting Vietnam from a country of shortages to a developing nation with much potential for international cooperation.
However, Vietnam is facing a lot of challenges in stabilising the market and the macro-economy, as well as ensuring social welfare, he said.
The state leader expressed his wish that IMF would continue to work closely with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to provide effective and practical consultancies in policy, helping Vietnam successfully renew its growth model and restructure the economy.
For his part, Benedict Bingham said IMF have received support from Vietnamese ministries and agencies, creating conditions for IMF to offer accurate consultancies to Vietnam and the country’s concerned agencies in managing the macro-economy.
Both expressed their trust in the IMF Chief Representative successor, Sanjay Kalra, during his upcoming tenure in Vietnam. /.
