State President Truong Tan Sang received President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA) Takebe Tsutomu in Hanoi on Oct. 7.

At the meeting, Takebe thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their support for the Japanese people in coping with the recent earthquake and tsunami.

He expressed his pleasure at the continuously enhanced Japan-Vietnam friendship alliance relations and pledged that the JVFPA will make all-out efforts to strengthen the friendship with Vietnam .

For his part, President Sang said he was delighted at the great achievements the Japanese government and people have recorded in restructuring disaster-hit areas.

He spoke highly of Takebe’s contributions to the development of the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

The President used the occasion to thank the Japanese side for its official development assistance for Vietnam although Japan is focusing on post-disaster recovery and restructure.

Vietnam hopes to step up economic and trade cooperation with Japan through the implementation of major projects signed by the two countries’ leaders, Sang said./.
