State President Nguyen Minh Triet left Hanoi on Sept. 23 to attend the UN Security Council’s Summit and the general debate of the 64th UN General Assembly in New York from Sept. 23-25.

President Triet’s presence at UN meetings manifests the country’s commitment to making active, constructive, cooperative and responsible contributions to UNSC work as well as to promoting UN operations in line with common benefits.

President Triet is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and other senior officials.

Later, the President will pay an official visit to Cuba from Sept. 26-29 and a state visit to Chile from Sept. 29-Oct.1 at the invitations of Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Cuban Council of State and Council of Ministers, and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, respectively./.
