State President pays pre-Tet visit to war veterans

The Party and State have paid special attention to the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA), President Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed during his pre-Tet visit to the association in Hanoi on January 21.
The Party and State have paid special attention to the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA), President Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed during his pre-Tet visit to the association in Hanoi on January 21.

“War veterans have made extremely valuable contributions to the nation’s victories,” President Triet said, emphasising that “the Party, the State and the people forever bear in mind those tremendous contributions.”

He also praised the veterans for their active participation in the current national economic development process and their role in helping the people keep their confidence in the Party’s leadership.

Over the years, the VWVA chapters at all levels have always been at the forefront of drives to maintain social stability and reinforce unity among the people.

At present, war veterans own 25,000 farms nationwide, and they have established around 2,500 businesses, creating jobs for more than 1 million people.

In addition, they have been enthusiastic in supporting humanitarian activities and international cooperation./.
