State President Nguyen Minh Triet on August 27 urged the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong to boost judicial reform and increase the ability and qualifications of its justices.

The State President gave the advice during his working visit to the province, saying that the local administration and people should study thoroughly the content and spirit of Resolution 49/NQ-TW by the Political Bureau on judicial reform strategy, which was deployed in the area four years ago.

Further efforts should be made to bring into full play the leading role of the Party on the guidelines and the organisational work needed to improve the quality of judicial officials while avoiding interference in both professional activities and concrete legal cases, he added.

The President also called for an increase in the provision of equipment and other facilities to help judicial bodies improve their operations, and thus prevent the possibility of unjust verdicts being handed down.

Over the past three years, Lam Dong has gradually strengthened its judicial system and improved the quality of its judicial staff at all levels. As a result, the system has dramatically improved in terms of bringing serious crimes to trial and handing down just verdicts./.
