State President visits the injured in helicopter crash

State President Truong Tan Sang on July 7 visited the soldiers who were critically injured in the Russian-made MI-171 helicopter crash early on the same day.

The soldiers are suffering from very serious body burns and all are in intensive care at the National Burns Hospital in Hanoi.

President Sang asked doctors and nurses taking care for the soldiers to do their best to save the soldiers’ lives.

The helicopter with 21 military personnel on a parachute training exercise lost contact and came down in Hoa Lac village, Binh Yen commune, Hanoi’s outskirt Thach That district at 7:46 am, only 16 minutes after it took off from Hoa Lac Airport.

The accident killed 16 people and injured five others.

The plane belongs to the Helicopter Regiment 916 of the Air Defence-Air Force Service’s Air Division 371.

The cause of the accident is now under investigation.-VNA
