Hanoi (VNA) - State President Truong Tan Sang voiced his hope for deepened wide-ranging cooperation with Japan at a reception for Vice President of the Japan’s International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) Yoshihiko Nakagaki in Hanoi on November 3.

The President told his guest that Vietnam’s policy to stabilise the macro-economy and rein in inflation has born fruits with economic growth averaging nearly 6 percent over the past five years.

He affirmed Japan’s foreign direct investment (FDI) and official development assistance (ODA) have significantly contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in the past time and even in the future.

Vietnam is keen to expand its markets and raise the competitiveness of its goods, especially farm products, regionally and globally, President Sang said, expressing his hope for Japan’s assistance.

According to the leader, Vietnam is cooperating with foreign partners, including Japan , in training post-graduate students in a number of majors.

He briefed his guest on the enactment of the amended 2014 Enterprise Law which, he said, is expected to spur the country’s private economy.

He expected that Japan will continue working with Vietnam in the latter’s industrialisation and modernisation fulfillments.

Yoshihiko Nakagaki said he hopes the country will carry forward its sound policies amidst the world’s uncertainties.

Along with collaboration in politics, economics and investment, the two countries should step up people-to-people exchange in a bid to increase mutual understanding between their citizens, he said.-VNA
