State President welcomes Russian Foreign Minister

State President Nguyen Minh Triet on July 22 received Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov while he is in Vietnam to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum and the ASEAN-Russia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
State President Nguyen Minh Triet on July 22 received Russian Ministerfor Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov while he is in Vietnam to attend theASEAN Regional Forum and the ASEAN-Russia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Both expressed their pleasure at the development ofthe two countries’ relationship over the past few years, especially inpolitics, security, defence, economies, trade, culture, education,science and technology.

Triet said that he believedthe visits by senior officials, including the recent visit by PartyGeneral Secretary Nong Duc Manh to Russia have helped the strategicpartnership between the two countries to flourish, adding that Russia isan important strategic partner for Vietnam.

“TheState and people of Vietnam wish for further consolidation anddevelopment of the friendship and cooperation with Russia,” he said.

He also praised Russia’s role and contribution to ASEAN, adding thatVietnam is preparing to welcome President Dmitry Medvedev at the secondASEAN-Russia Summit.

In his reply, Lavrov said hebelieved that President Medvedev’s official visit to Vietnam will createnew momentum for the strategic partnership and comprehensivecooperation between the two countries forward. He also affirmed Russia’ssupport for ASEAN’s role in ensuring security in Asia./.

Vietnam, Laos sign cooperation agreement to enhance financial management capacity for 2026–2030

The agreement was one of four cooperation documents exchanged during the Lao PM’s ongoing official visit to Vietnam, reflecting the determination of the two Parties, States, as well as ministries, and sectors of the two countries to further consolidate, strengthen and deepen the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos.

Vietnam, Thailand further bolster 50-year ties

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, Vietnam-Thailand ties have expanded steadily in both breadth and depth. The two countries enjoy strong political trust and close relations between their leaders and people.
