State President Truong Tan Sang received Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Hanoi on September 5.

At the reception, the State leaders applauded the Sri Lankan DefenceMinistry delegation’s first visit to Vietnam , considering it aconcrete manifestation of the friendship between the two countries.

He thanked Sri Lanka for its past support for Vietnam atregional and international forums and congratulated the South Asiancountry on its socio-economic development achievements, especially itshigh economic growth in recent years.

President Sangspoke highly of the results of the talks between the two countries’Defence Ministries, affirming that Vietnam was ready to shareexperience in national construction and development with Sri Lanka .

He expressed his belief that the cooperation betweenthe two countries will deepen further and expand in the future as theyshared many cultural similarities and long-lasting traditionalrelations.

For his part, the Sri Lankan guestaffirmed that his country wanted to expand cooperation with Vietnam ,especially in promoting the role of the army in socio-economicdevelopment./.

Thanking President Ndayishimiye and the Burundi Government for supporting the effective operation of Lumitel, the telecommunications joint venture of Vietnam’s Viettel Group in Burundi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed that Burundi continue facilitating Lumitel’s participation in e-government and digital transformation projects, while enabling it to expand investment and business activities, making it a symbol of bilateral cooperation.
