Statues of former State leaders on display in HCM City

An exhibition featuring 25 miniature statues of President Ho Chi Minh and Vice President Ton Duc Thang opened at the Ton Duc Thang Museum in HCM City on Oct. 20.

In additionsculptors from the HCM City Fine Arts Association sent in 26 entries fora contest to create a giant copper statue of the two leaders forinstallation in Hanoi for the millennium anniversary.

Lam Quang Noi's creation won the contest and a 5.4m copper statue ofPresident Ho shaking hands with Ton Duc Thang to congratulate him forbecoming vice president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1960now adorns Thong Nhat Park in the capital's Thong NhatIsland .

The other 25 entries are on show at the exhibition where they will remain until February 20 next year.

The museum is located at 5 Ton Duc Thang street , District 1./.

Vietnamese sports delegation leaves for ASIAD 20 in Japan

The Vietnamese delegation comprises 496 members, including athletes, coaches, experts, officials, doctors and medical staff. The teams will depart in several groups depending on their competition schedules, with the largest group expected to leave on September 16. The squad has set a target of winning at least four gold medals at ASIAD 20.
