Five workers, including two Vietnamese, were killed on the evening of July 25 when a heavy steel frame collapsed at a light rail transit construction site in Uijeongbu city in the Republic of Korea.

Police said the accident took place when a launching girder, a 30-metre-long and six-metre-wide construction machine connecting the bridge deck, fell down. Workers on the deck were buried under debris.
The accident also left two other Vietnamese workers and their six colleagues working at the site injured, said the police.

The two dead Vietnamese workers were Nguyen Trong Toan and Le Huy Dung, both 26 years old, while the two injured, who are receiving treatment at a local hospital, were unidentified.

Construction on the 750 billion KRW light rail system began in July 2007 and is scheduled to be finished by August 2011.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident./.
