Most stocks continued to fall on July 14 on the HCM Stock Exchange, with decliners outnumbering advancers by 124 to 24 and the VN-Index losing another 1.9 percent to close at 418.55.

Trading volume on the southern exchange improved slightly to 31.4 million shares on a turnover of 1.15 trillion VND (64.6 million USD).

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also slid by 0.66 percent to end the day at 140.68 points. Total value of the day’s trades on the northern bourse was 413.5 billion VND (23.2 million USD) on a volume of 13.3 million shares.

Banking shares still proved the most attractive to investors on both exchanges, as Sacombank (STB) and Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) accounted for about 19 percent of July 14’s total volume, with a combined 8.6 million shares traded.

FPT Securities Co analysts said the market had yet to establish an upward trend in the short term, with trading volumes maintaining at low levels. “We suppose that the market still leans toward a downward trend, and now is not a suitable time for short-term investors to join the market,” they said in a report.

On the unlisted public company market, the UPCoM-Index regained 1.98 percent to close at 71.74 points. Da Nang Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Equipment (DDN) posted the sharpest gain on the day, up 3.5 percent.

The value of the day’s trades reached 3.3 billion VND (185,400 USD) on a volume of 255,600 shares. SME Securities (SME) continued to be the most active share, with 114,300 units changing hands, accounting for 45 percent of the day’s volume./.
