Storm-stranded fishermen cared for in Hong Kong

Vietnamese Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau Pham Cao Phong on July 19 visited 10 Vietnamese fishermen who were victims of a ship sinking by typhoon Conson.

According to thefishermen, they were on board the QNg 96354 TS ship, which wascapsized by typhoon Conson at 5am on July 16. They were picked up by theJade Trader, a ship of Antigua and Barbuda , on the way to Hong Kongon July 18.

At present, all ten victims’ health isin stable conditions.

The only missing fisherman,Nguyen Van Tho, was later rescued by another ship.

According to Consul-General Phong, the Consulate General and the QuangNgai provincial People’s Committee are urgently working with the HongKong administration to bring the fishermen home by air on July 20./.

Excavation for war remains begins in Quang Ngai

Y Ngoc, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the provincial Steering Committee for the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains, said the mission aims to conduct definitive excavation and verification to bring home the remains of martyrs from Regiment 24A, the B3 Front, Special Forces Battalion 406, and Infantry Battalion 304, who fell during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
