Top striker Le Cong Vinh’s ban has been reduced from six matches to two after the Vietnam Football Federation’s Discipline Department reviewed his appeal.

VFF officials said Vinh’s kneeled pleading with referee Vu Bao Linh about a decision during a match between Hanoi T&T and Dong Thap was an uncharacteristic outburst. Vinh has also understood his behaviour was unacceptable and has apologised to referee Linh.

The VFF’s penalty of a six-match ban and 10 million VND (500 USD) fine was reduced to a two-match ban and 5 million VND (250 USD) fine after considering a letter from Vinh’s club T&T.

The national striker was very happy on hearing the news and promised to play better for both his local club and the national team.

Following the disciplinary, Vinh will return to the field on April 18 when T&T host Song Lam Nghe An on home turf at Hanoi ’s Hang Day Stadium./.
