Vietnamese students won six medals at the 50 th International Mathematical Olympiad that took place from July 10-22 in Germany.

The medals earned the team 161 marks, helping it place 15 th out of 104 teams in the medal tally, said the Ministry of Education and Training.

Two golds went for Ha Khuong Duy, a 12 th grade student at Hanoi National University and Pham Duc Hung, an 11 th grade student from Tran Phu high school in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

The other two silver and two bronze medals went to students from northern provinces of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Hai Duong and Ho Chi Mnh City.

The International Mathematical Olympiad this year drew the participation of 565 students from 104 countries and territories around the world. There were 282 medals being prized, of which 49 were gold and 98, silver./.
