Almost 200 students from the National Economic University and Chuo University of Japan discussed environmentally-friendly production at a symposium in Hanoi on August 27.
Also present were experts from the Institute of Strategic Research , the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and many other interested agencies.
The symposium, entitled “Green economic corridor and ecological villages”, heard reports on ecological environment, the eco-village model, urban solid waste management, clean development machinery, and measures to cope with climate change.
Some of the scientific reports were prepared by Japanese students on the basis of surveys on socio-economic development and activities in support of forest farmers and eco-village establishments in Vietnamese provinces such as Hai Duong, Son La and Ha Giang.
The National Economic University of Vietnam and Chuo University of Japan set up sisterly relations over 10 years ago. Every year sees between 30 and 40 Japanese students visit and conduct research at the Vietnamese university.
Leaders from the two universities pledged to expand cooperation to other economic fields in addition to environment and increase exchange of students for personal training and field trips/.
