The repair of the submarine cable Asia –America Gateway (AAG), which was cut on January 5, will be completed at noon on January 24, one day behind schedule, according to the AAG management unit.
The repair of the first rupture in the cable was finished at 6:16pm on January 17 and the final rupture is expected to be connected by 11:16 am on January 24.
The disconnect in the cable slowed the Internet connection between Vietnam and other countries, FPT Coroporation said, adding that it is transmitting Internet service through mainland cables to limit the effect on its customers.
In 2014 alone, the undersea cable experienced three separate disruptions, in February, July and September, decreasing international Internet capacity by 40 to 70 percent.
