Banks have lent nearly 398 trillion VND (22.2 billion USD) under the Government’s subsidised interest loan programme through the end of August, according to the State Bank of Vietnam.

During the week of August 20-27, banks lent nearly 1.7 trillion VND (95 million USD), roughly 700 billion VND (39.1 million USD) more than in the previous week.

Of the cumulative total, State-owned commercial banks and credit unions had lent 274 trillion VND (15.3 billion USD); private commercial banks had disbursed nearly 98 trillion VND (5.47 billion USD); and joint venture banks, foreign bank branches and wholly-owned foreign banks, nearly 20.9 trillion VND (1.16 billion USD).

Finance companies have also lent 4.9 trillion VND (273.7 million USD) under the programme.

Private enterprises have benefited most from the programme, borrowing 264.6 trillion VND (14.8 billion USD) at the Government-subsidised interest rate of 4 percent.

Cooperatives, households, and individuals borrowed another 70.5 trillion VND (3.9 billion USD), while State-owned enterprises took out loans totalling 62.6 trillion VND (3.5 billion USD) under the programme./.
