Supermodel vies for ‘Look of the Year' in Italy

Super model Phuong Mai will represent Vietnam for the first time at the world modelling contest Look of the Year in Sicily, Italy from September 25 to October 1.
Super model Phuong Mai will represent Vietnam for the first time atthe world modelling contest Look of the Year in Sicily, Italy fromSeptember 25 to October 1.

Considered as one of the mostpromising models in Vietnam, the 21-year-old has competed in severalhigh profile modelling contests and pageants, including Asian SuperModel 2009 and Miss Vietnam World 2010, where she was among the top 10and top 15 contestants, respectively.

Mai will begin taking part in a range of contest activities as soon as she arrives in Sicily on Sept. 25.

TheLook of the Year finale will take place in an ancient Greek theatrelocated in the high-end coastal resort of Taormina on October 1.

Founded in 1983, Look of the Year is the third largest modelling contest in the world.

Thecontest gathers models ranging in age from 16 to 22 with a minimumheight of 1.72m. A modelling agency from their home country mustrecommend them for participation. The 15 finalists will be trained to beinternational models to eventually brighten the world's famous catwalksin Paris, Milano and New York.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year. Vietnam’s hiring outlook to see strong growth in Q4

In Vietnam, among 285 businesses surveyed, 52% expected to increase hiring in Q4, 16% planned to reduce hiring, while 32% intended to maintain their current workforce levels, according to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey.
