The US non-profit organisation Compassion Flower (TCF) will implement an aid project to support the disadvantaged in central Thua Thien-Hue province.

The chief of the provincial People’s Committee Office Hoang Ngoc Khanh said on March 11 that the project, with a budget of more than 808 million VND (nearly 37,000 USD) aims to improve health care and education services and the living conditions of children and poor households in remote and poor areas.

Over a one-year period, the project will organise mobile medical teams to provice free-of-charge health checks and treatment in Phu Vang , Nam Dong, Phu Loc districts, Huong Thuy and Huong Tra towns. It will also pay the surgery costs for 10 local patients, and buy books for local schools’ libraries.

Besides, training classes on nutrition and first-aid skills will be held for teachers at nursery schools and orphanages.

Earlier, another US charity, the Clear Path International, donated 210 million VND (9,500 USD) via the Thua Thien-Hue Union of Friendship Organisations to grant 140 scholarships for children from families of landmine victims in Phong Dien district.-VNA
