Swimmer Vo Thanh Tung won his fourth gold medal at the ongoing Asian Para Games in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, on October 22.

With a superb start, the 29-year-old swimmer beat strong rivals Takayuki Suzuki of Japan and Jam Anak of Malaysia to finish first in the men’s 50m freestyle S5 category with a time of 35.40 seconds.

Earlier, he won three gold medals in the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 1:21.94, men’s 50m backstroke with a timing of 42.62 seconds and men’s 200m freestyle event with 3:2.24.

Vu The Phiet, general secretary of the Vietnam Paralympic Association and head of the Vietnamese sporting delegation, said Tung has bright prospects of competing for the Olympic gold medal in Brazil in 2016.

On October 21, Vietnamese swimmer Vo Huynh Anh Khoa won a bronze medal in the men’s 400m freestyle event, while Vietnam’s swimming team won a bronze medal in the men’s 4x50m medley event.

By the end of October 22, Vietnam won seven gold, six silver and eight bronze medals to rank ninth in the medal table.-VNA
