Swiss project fosters community development

Officials of 25 wards and communes in the Red River Delta city of Nam Dinh on Jan. 5 joined a training course designed to improve their skills in outlining socio-economic development plans in 2012.

The course forms part of the “Promoting Community Management Model in Vietnam ” (PCMM) project funded by the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC).

The PCMM project aims to promote the involvement of the community, especially the poor and disadvantaged, in working out plans and making decisions within the scope of wards and communes. Total funding for the project is 2 million USD for the 2008-2012 period.

Apart from Nam Dinh, the PCMM project have also benefited the northern province of Hoa Binh and the central city of Dong Hoi (Quang Binh province)./.
