Overseas Vietnamese singer Camille Huyen performed songs with lyrics written by talented Vietnamese poet Han Mac Tu with Swiss composer and guitarist Waltherr Giger in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 14.
As part of the Switzerland-Vietnam poem music programme, the night, themed “Truong Ca Trang” (Chants Lunaires) and “Ru Con The Gioi” (World Lullabies), ,marked the 70 th anniversary of death of love poet Han Mac Tu, who died of leprosy at the age of 28.
The duo also performed lullabies from the US , Spain , Switzerland , Greece and Brazil in dedication to the ill-fated poet.
After attending the Hue Festival 2010 and performing in Hue city, the two artists will tour Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon city in Binh Dinh province, the homeland of Han Mac Tu.
Camille Huyen, who was born in Hue , started singing at dance-hall restaurants and concerts in Paris in 1986 while being a student. In 1996, she moved to Switzerland and has participated in music recitals organised by Vietnamese communities there and in France , Germany and Italy .
Her first album Huyen Cam was released in 2004./.
