The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved a Swiss-funded project to reduce poverty by developing animal husbandry in the northern mountainous region.

Accordingly, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation will provide a non-refundable aid of 1.19 million EUR for the project, which is estimated to cost more than 2.32 million EUR in total.

The project will benefit the Vietnam Institute for Animal Husbandry and the northern provinces of Phu Tho, Yen Bai, and Son La.

It aims to increase local farmers’ incomes by providing them with more breeding services and suitable, sustainable animal husbandry models.

Under the project, farmers will be enabled to apply breeding skills and knowledge in small- and medium-sized farms, as well as improve their skills to do household business and approach markets./.
