Jakarta (VNA) – The Swiss government has provided a grant of 75 million USD for Indonesia to support the country’s economic development, Indonesia’s Antara news agency reported on July 19.

The Swiss government wants to maintain its technical support for Indonesia, Antara quoted Swiss Economy, Education and Research Minister Johann Schneider Ammann as saying during a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on July 18.

Minister Johann Schneider Ammann, who is also a member of the Swiss Federal Council, made a two day-visit to Jakarta to resume negotiations with Indonesia on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA), and to strengthen cooperation in vocational training and education. 

Switzerland has supported 40 projects in Indonesia to help maintain economic stability, increase access to financial services, promote trade and develop infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister for National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro said the country’s government highly appreciates support from the Swiss Government for Indonesia. 

He hoped that the cooperation between the two countries would help create new jobs, reduce poverty and improve access to financial service in the country.-VNA
