Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on February 24 sent amessage of sympathy to his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro over the hugeloss in human lives and assets caused by floods and landslide in Petrópolis city.

The number of people killed in landslides and flooding triggered by heavy rains in Petropolis, located in the mountainous region of Rio deJaneiro state, has risen to nearly 200, according to international media.

Vietnam, Laos strengthen border defence friendship

At Border Marker No. 460, the two defence ministers jointly took part in the traditional ceremony of repainting the marker. Beyond its symbolic significance, the ceremony reflected the determination of the two Parties, States and armed forces to safeguard every marker of national sovereignty, preserve the achievements of border demarcation and marker planting, and develop the Vietnam–Laos border into a symbol of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
