Friendship organisations of Ho Chi Minh City have sent their deepest sympathies to the governments and people of Thailand and Cambodia over the great losses caused by recent floods in their countries.

The Ho Chi Minh City chapters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association sent messages to the Thai and Cambodian Consulates General in Ho Chi Minh City , expressing their wishes that the Thai and Cambodian people would soon overcome the aftermath of the disasters and resume their normal lives.

In Thailand , floods claimed at least 297 lives, with four people missing and about 2.4 million people homeless, at an estimated loss of 3 billion USD.

In Cambodia , at least 206 people were killed by prolonged floods which have affected most localities along the Mekong river and around Tonle Sap lake since early August./.
