Lawmakers mull over changes to architecture law

On architectural management, the draft Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Architecture clarifies the concept of “national cultural identity in architecture”, tying design to the preservation and promotion of regional heritage. It pushes architecture that mirrors local identity and fits each locality’s natural, historical and social conditions, while setting criteria to identify, assess and protect architecturally valuable buildings as a distinct form of cultural heritage.

Vietnam, China forge ahead with transport cooperation

From late 2023 to December 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction - MoC), China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) signed six documents to advance the construction of railways linking the two nations.

Minh also mentioned Vietnam’s ongoing construction of Long Thanh International Airport, which will have a total capacity of 100 million passengers per year upon completion. The airport is expected to become Vietnam’s largest and serve as an international gateway, offering new opportunities for global aviation businesses, including those from France, to expand their connections in Vietnam and ASEAN, he said.
