Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet lauded Poldi’s unwavering dedication over nearly six decades in support of the Vietnamese people. Her contributions ranged from participating in the international anti-war movement to promoting cultural and educational exchanges and people-to-people cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina.
Poldi passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy cherished not only by her family, friends and colleagues in Argentina but also by generations of Vietnamese who knew her as an unwavering supporter of Vietnam.
Poldi Sosa Schmidt, Chairwoman of the Argentina-Vietnam Culture Institute (ICAV), highlighted the significant improvements in Vietnamese people’s living standards, transport, education, and international integration. Today, she said, Vietnam is truly dynamic and modern while maintaining its skillful approach in geopolitical affairs.
As Vietnam prepares to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975–2025), memories of that historic moment remain vivid in the hearts of many international friends.
