Nine months after the February 20 community event, COVID-19 in Cambodia has been brought under control and the country is fully reopening in almost all sectors.

New COVID-19 cases in Malaysia surged to 7,105 on June 1, the first day of the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Cambodia on April 23 recorded 654 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the total number of infections to nearly 9,000.

Cambodia logged an additional 41 COVID-19 infections on March 14 morning, raising the number of cases linked with the “February 20 Community Event” to 792.

Lockdown measures have been imposed in a number of localities in Cambodia to curb the spread of COVID-19 while the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of 400 million USD for the Philippines to purchase COVID-19 vaccines.

Cambodia is facing the possibility of more provinces being affected by the prevailing COVID-19 February 20 Community Event which broke out on the same date in the capital.
