The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for mooncake, a baked pastry that symbolises family reunions and which is traditionally consumed as part of the celebrations.
The bakery market has enjoyed compounded annual growth of 20-30 percent in recent years and is worth 700 million USD now, the chief of one of the country’s largest bakery chains has said.
A large volume of Vietnamese mooncakes will be shipped to foreign markets in the next few weeks as the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival is on the horizon.
The Asia Bakery and Confectionery Pte. Ent, known as ABC Bakery, has wrapped up export procedures for its first container of moon cakes (60,000 moon cakes) to be shipped to the US to be sold at supermarkets there.
