The Hanoi-based High-level People’s Court on June 10 opened a trial to look into appeals of Phan Van Anh Vu, also known as Vu “nhom”, four former officers of the public security sector, and the Hanoi People’s Procuracy.
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court upheld a 17-year jail sentence for Phan Van Anh Vu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bac Nam 79 Construction Company, on the charge of “abusing position and power while performing duties” during an appeal court on June 7.
Five former officers of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) were brought to trial in Hanoi on January 28 for public property-related wrongdoings in Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City.
