Vietnam voiced concern over an increase in attacks against schools and use of schools for military purposes during a UN Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict on September 10.
Vietnam always pays attention to and prioritises protecting children's rights in armed conflicts, said Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of the Vietnamese delegation in Geneva.
Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnam Mission to the United Nations, voiced concerns over children’s situation in armed conflicts and emphasised the need for the international community to take specific measures and actions to minimise conflicts’ impact on children.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remains strong
commitments to addressing issues that children are facing, especially in
conflict situations, said Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent
Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations.
