The People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City on April 18 opened a trial against 12 defendants on the charge of conducting acts aiming at overthrowing the people’s administration.

The People’s Court of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on March 19 sentenced Tran Nguyen Chuan to six years and six months in prison for the charge of “attempting to overthrow the people’s administration” under Article 109 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City on June 27 handed an eight-year prison sentence to a man for engaging in activities aimed to overthrow the people’s administration.

The Hanoi High-level People’s Court has reduced the sentence given by the Hoa Binh People’s Court to Dao Quang Thuc for conducting “activities aimed at overthrowing the people’s administration” under Clause 1, Article 79 of the 1999 Penal Code.

On August 22, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City handed out prison sentences ranging from five to 14 years to 12 defendants, all of whom are members of a reactionary organisation.
