‘100 best’ for foreign tourists in HCM City

Ho Chi Minh City on February 25 announced the winners of the top 100 prizes in a tourist programme to promote its image as an attractive and safe destination and the busiest economic hub in Vietnam.

Good year for franchises

2009 was a busy year for franchises with more and more well-known global brand names appearing in Vietnam’s market as well as Vietnamese trademarks springing up in foreign markets.

To date, 39 overseas companies, mostly from the US , UK , Canada , Switzerland , Italy and Australia, doing in the fields of fast food, restaurant, and fashion, have been licensed to do franchise deals in Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Vietnam sees bustling franchise sector

In the first half of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade granted licences for the franchise deals of 15 overseas companies, mostly from the US, Belgium and Canada, in the food and beverage, fashion and information technology industries in Vietnam.

The figure reflected a noticeable growing interest from foreign groups in franchise operations in Vietnam, where the consumer market is getting more powerful and the population has now reached 85 million people.

2,000 deals inked at Techmart Vietnam ASEAN+3

More than 2,000 technology-related deals worth more than 1.7 trillion VND were inked during the Techmart Vietnam ASEAN + 3 which took place in Hanoi from September 17-20, said the organisers.

Fast food market heats up

Domestic fast food businesses are struggling to gain market share from their foreign counterparts, which have come to dominate this high-potential market.

Local players remain dominate in real estate

Local investors will continue to be the main players in the real estate market in the short and medium term, and will seek assets from foreigners looking to leave the market, an international conference heard on July 26.

Managing director of CB Richard Ellis Vietnam Ltd Co, Marc Townsend, told the Vietnam International Real Estate Conference in Ho Chi Minh City that more real estate assets will be offered for the sale in the near future.
