Ford Vietnam Limited Company launched Ford Driving Skills for Life, a programme on improving essential safe driving skills, in central Da Nang city on June 9.
Ford, the US automobile manufacturer, plans to step up its efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including an increased focus on recruiting and training women employees to gain an edge in the battle for talent in fast-growing Asia markets, including Vietnam.
The total number of automobiles sold in 2016 reached 304,427 units, the highest level recorded by Vietnam’s auto market in the past 20 years, the Vietnam Automobiles Manufacturers Association (VAMA) announced on January 11.
The Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) 2016 opened on October 5 in Hanoi, showcasing more than 100 car models by 13 domestic automobile makers, including Chevrolet, Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Ford Vietnam sold 2,392 units in March an increase of 71 percent compared with the same period last year, the best sales ever recorded, the automaker announced on April 8.
Ford Vietnam sold 1,524 units in February, a year-on-year increase of 65 percent, the best sales month ever recorded, the automaker announced on March 7.
Ford Vietnam sold close to 2,600 units in January, a year-on-year increase of 70 percent, the highest growth ever recorded, the automaker announced on February 17.
The US’s Ford Vietnam has announced a voluntary recall of 728 units of the EcoSport made between December 29, 2014 and March 10, 2015 to rectify suspension issues, said Lao Dong (Labour) Newspapers .
Vietnam was Ford’s third biggest market in Southeast Asia in 2015, after Thailand and the Philippines, said Mark Kaufman, director of the US car marker in the region.
Ford Vietnam recently announced its sales in December last year rose 60 percent year-on-year to 2,634 vehicles, bringing the total cars sold in 2015 to the best-ever record of 20,740 units.
Vietnam’s automobile sales in September amounted to 21,366, up 32 percent from the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).
Ford Vietnam saw strong sales in July with 1,405 units sold, up 7 percent against the same period last year, revealed the firm’s July report on August 10.
The Ford Motor Company has committed to long-term investment and operations in Vietnam thanks to the country’s favourable investment climate, said Ford Vietnam’s Managing Director Jesus Metelo Arias.
